PRINT IN SPACE :

An exhibition exploring space and infinite possibilities.

The enormity and scale of the universe can make us feel uncomfortable because it draws attention to and exposes the limits of human understanding and relevance.

However, all of us exist in a universe that does not know it exists. We as conscious beings know we exist, so we’re one up on the universe. We can engage with it. This engagement with the vastness of space gives us the opportunity to look back at ourselves and how we view ourselves as individuals, as communities and as a species.

This exhibition was a collaborative project between MTU Crawford College and Art and Design and MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory.

Artists were asked to consider space as a place of infinite potential and respond from their own perspectives. How did the universe evolve? Where do we come from? Where are we going? Are we alone?

The topics under discussion include, but are not limited to cosmic perception, interpretations of scientific topics, the beginnings of life, exploration, the future, the future as we used to imagine it, scientific intervention, philosophy, alternate reality, nostalgia, fantasy and the absurd.
